About CancerCare

CancerCare is a local charity dedicated to the support of people with cancer, their families and their carers, and those bereaved by cancer.

CancerCare’s services are available to anyone in North Lancashire and South Lakeland whose lives are affected by cancer.

All CancerCare’s services are offered free of charge.

We offer support at our two main centres, Slynedales in Lancaster and the Lakes Centre in Kendal, which are both easy to access by car and public transport. We also work in local hospitals and in the community.

CancerCare welcomes referrals directly from cancer patients and their carers, as well as from professionals, by telephone, email, and letter or by calling in at Slynedales or the Lakes Centre from 9 am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Each year, CancerCare provides emotional, psychological, physical and social support to around 1500 local people, individually or in groups, through an extensive range of therapies provided by professional, skilled and qualified therapists. We also offer advice and information on all aspects of life affected by cancer.

CancerCare is a valued partner within the local NHS Cancer Network and works closely with other local providers, national cancer networks and key research initiatives. We offer services that complement the treatment and advice offered by healthcare professionals.
